Obituary of Concetta Facchini

Concetta (Connie) Facchini 1932-2020 Concetta (Connie) Facchini (nee Arena), 87, of Lynbrook, formerly of Franklin Square, after living a full and energetic life here amongst us, was called home by God on Tuesday, June 23, 2020. Devoted wife of over 35 years to Joe, who predeceased her. Loving mother to Sabina Boccia and Sam Facchini, beloved Grandmother to Andrea Boccia, Joseph Boccia Jr. and Anthony Boccia, much loved mother-in-law to Joseph Boccia Sr. and Candy Facchini, and respected Godmother to Donna Krollage, Anthony Labianca, Antonella Facchini and Marianne Bavaro. Connie lived an extraordinary life that at its foundation was the fact that she was one of 8 children borne to her mother, Domenica Palladino Arena. Throughout her entire life, a day didn’t pass where she didn’t mention the Depression-era Lower East Side upbringing she had with her Mother, and her siblings John, Onofrio, Tony, Phyllis, Joey, Grace and Rocky. The bond she shared with them all, and then with their children (all of her nieces and nephews), was unmistakable and unbreakable. Over the decades, as her family grew in many directions, so did her love and friendship grow for each and every one of us. Every holiday, birthday, and other cause for celebration found Connie surrounded by her big, boisterous and loving family. In addition, Connie opened her arms to embrace her many dear friends into her family as well. Her generosity was legendary, and she was renown her entire life for always remembering everyone’s birthday with a card or a gift. Having a light such as hers go out makes us all feel a little colder and lonelier, but for each one of us left behind Connie now has other beloveds to share eternity with – her husband, her mother, two of her brothers, her niece, her aunt, her cousins, her brothers-in law, her beloved sister-in-law Lulu, her father-in-law and her mother-in-law, most of her friends and countless other relatives that played an important role in her amazing life. Think of the welcoming committee that will greet each of us when it is our turn to join her in Paradise. What a sight ! And in the center of it all will be Connie, with a hot freshly-made plate of manicotti to welcome us home.
