Obituary of John F. Fischer

John Frederick Fischer, 65, of Franklin Square, NY passed away Saturday April 11, 2020. John (“Johnny”) was born August 9, 1954 in the Bronx, NY, son of Vera Fischer (née Kubler) and the late John Joseph Fischer. He lived most of his life in Franklin Square, Long Island. He was a cook by trade and worked in various kitchens, where everyone loved his meals. He loved all New York Sports teams, was an avid Yankees fan, and enjoyed going to many baseball games with his family and friends. A self-described pet lover, he rescued many stray kittens that he later found homes for. His two stray kittens Grizzly and Angel became the little loves of his life. Johnny also loved horse racing, having grown up close to Belmont Racetrack. He was an avid gardener and had the most beautiful flower gardens and bountiful vegetable gardens. Everyone knew him as a friendly, generous, and kind man. John leaves behind his mother, Vera Fischer, along with his sister, Marlene Bandfield, and brother-in-law, David, of Oradell, NJ. He cherished his niece, Caitlin Berger, and nephew, Sean Bandfield, and great niece, Amanda Berger, of Oradell, NJ. Johnny lived his life on his own terms, for which we are grateful. A memorial service will take place at a later date. We will miss Johnny forever. Donations can be made in Johnny’s memory to the American Diabetes Association, or to St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church in West Hempstead, NY.
