Zdzislaw Jan Klimczak, 90, of Franklin Square, NY, passed away on January 23, 2024,after a courageous battle with dementia.Jan was born on November 24, 1933, to Waclaw Klimczak and Michalina Długołecka inWarsaw, Poland. He lost his parents during the war and spent a significant portion ofhis childhood with the wonderful caregivers at Nasz Dom orphanage, a place hecherished throughout his life and frequently visited into his old age.In 1950, Jan met Krystyna Wasawska in Warsaw and they married in 1953. Jan andKrystyna had two children, Elizabeth and Arthur.In 1965, Jan immigrated to America to provide a better life for his family beyond theIron Curtain. He worked tirelessly as a dedicated TWA employee for decades toensure his children had access to education and opportunities that he was notafforded himself.His devotion to his family was evident in the many sacrifices he and Krystyna made.Jan’s selflessness has paved the way for his children and grandchildren to live fulland enriching lives, for which they are eternally grateful. He also sponsored both ofhis sisters Danuta and Teresa in immigrating to America. His generosity extended tohis entire family, his large network of friends, and anyone who needed a helpinghand.Throughout his life, Jan loved music, dancing, travel, and spending time with peoplehe loved. He was a big crybaby, which was one of his most endearing qualities. Hewas also stubborn as a bull, a trait that is alive and well in his surviving familymembers.Before the onset of dementia, he was an avid walker and could be found out andabout in his neighborhood on daily strolls with his beloved dog, Kiwi.He was preceded by his wife Krystyna, who already has his favorite pickle soupprepared and waiting for him, and his younger sister, Teresa, who has her famouscream puffs ready.He is survived by his children, Elizabeth and Arthur, his sister, Danuta, hisgrandchildren William Robert Gibson, Alexandra Gibson, Roberta Klimczak, JesseKlimczak, and Frank Klimczak, and his great-grandchildren, Nicholas and ZacharyKlimczak. The viewing will be held at Krauss Funeral Home in Franklin Square, New York onSunday, January 28, 2024, from 4 PM to 8 PM followed by interment on Tuesday,January 30, 2024, at 1 PM at The National Shrine of Our Lady of Częstochowa inDoylestown, Pennsylvania
