Obituary of Joan McManus

Joan B. McManus (nee Bath) of Garden City South, New York passed on Wednesday, August 24, 2022. She was 80 years old.
Born to Wilma and Edmund Bath, Joan was born in Bellerose and grew up in Douglaston, New York. After graduating with a bachelor’s degree from Queens College and a master’s degree from Adelphi University, Joan taught Jr. High School English and Elementary School Reading for New York City schools. She concluded her career in Education working in Administration.
Together with her late husband Joe, Joan enjoyed boating and fishing, taking annual summer trips to Greenport, NY, and volunteering at St. Thomas the Apostle in West Hempstead. Later in life, they enjoyed spending time with their four grandsons.
Joan is survived by her daughters June Marie Murtagh (Tim), Julie Phillips (Gary), and four grandchildren, Ryan Murtagh, Kyle Murtagh, Cameron Phillips and Ashton Phillips and her sister, Karen Bath.
Visitation at Krauss Funeral Home, 1097 Hempstead Turnpike, Franklin Square, NY 11010. Sunday, August 28 from 2 pm–4 pm and 7 pm-9 pm. 516-352-2080
Funeral Service at St. Thomas the Apostle, 24 Westminster Road, West Hempstead, NY 11552 Monday, August 29 at 10 am.
