Obituary of Vilma Cabrera

Vilma Cabrera passed away in her sleep on the morning of Saturday, January 15th, 2022. She was 91 years old. Vilma, our beloved Nona, was the beating heart of our family. Her warmth, humor, sharp wit, and generosity was always a source of joy. Vilma was born and raised in Bahia Blanca, Argentina and moved to Buenos Aires with her husband where they had a daughter, Adrianne. The family moved to the U.S. in 1963, and had been living the American Dream ever since. She worked for Rolex for decades, and when not providing for her family they would travel the world from visiting family in Argentina, across the sea to Italy, and even to Japan. After her retirement, Vilma loved tending to her garden and swimming in her pool with her husband and best friend, Christopher Cabrera, and their Pomeranian, Teddy (and yes, he went in the pool too). Her cooking was legendary, and it was holiday tradition for us to eagerly anticipate her famous empanadas and stuffed peppers. Her memory will be preserved by her daughter, Adrianne Hackett, son-in-law, John, her grandson, Sean, granddaughter-in-law Sharon, and her two young great-grandchildren, Sharon Aurora and Jacob. They hardly got the chance to know their Nona, but will have their photos with her and our stories to keep her in their hearts. Due to COVID, we will not hold any services until a later date. In the meantime, we ask you please keep her in your prayers.
