Please share a memory of Patricia to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
At the family's request in addition to flowers you can donate to St. Jude. Patricia “Patsy” Veerasammy was a loving mother, wife, sister, aunt, grand aunt, friend and devoted daughter. After a long and courageous battle fought through illness, Patsy left the physical earth on November 23, 2021. Patsy was surrounded by close loved ones on the day of her departure. Patricia’s story begins on November 19, 1949 in Port of Spain, Trinidad. She was born to Kathleen and Kenneth Mangal. Patsy was the second eldest of four; eldest brother Desmond Veerasammy, younger brother Bruce Veerasammy and youngest sister Karen Mangal. She spent many years in her youth visiting grandparents and family in Guyana. Patricia attended Holy Name Preparatory and graduated with honors. Upon graduation she studied abroad in England and traveled around Europe. She later returned to the United States and completed college becoming a Lab Technologist and worked in the field. Throughout her life she was the support system for her family, managing the family’s restaurants in both Trinidad and in New York. She eventually made New York her home to raise her daughter Siobhan Mangal with her life partner, Andrew, and to later help raise her nieces Megan and Jade Soto. While being the family Matriarch, Patricia spent over 12 years working in the financial industry. She was a caring, generous, loving and thoughtful person who was the glue that held together the family she loved so fiercely. Patricia’s heart was full of love and her greatest passion was to be a mother. She was not only a rock, resource, and sounding board to her daughter but for all of those that she mothered. She was an empath who felt it all and gave it all just the same. Patricia was often times the life of the party, never passing up an opportunity to dance the night away. She was intelligent, poised, dynamic, and inarguably the world’s best cook. She loved reading romance novels because she was a romantic at heart. She loved music and knew the power of a good chune because she was incredibly passionate. She loved making things beautiful because she could find pieces of beauty in anything. As much as she was a lover, Patsy was a fighter. She fought through life’s adversities. She fought for her autonomy. And she fought for her life until her last breath. She will be dearly missed, forever honored and eternally loved. She’s preceded in death by her parents, Kathleen and Kenneth Mangal. Patricia leaves to mourn her husband, Andrew Desouza; one sister Karen Mangal; two brothers: Desmond and Bruce Veerasammy; and one beloved daughter, Siobhan Mangal.
