Obituary of Pierre Harry Larosiliere

Please share a memory of Pierre to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Pierre Harry Larosiliere was known as Harry to his close family and friends. Harry was born on February 16, 1939 in Cavaillon, Haiti to Jacques Larosiliere and Antonelli Rousseau. His mother passed away at an early age and he was raised by his father and his aunt Josette Pyram. He grew up playing soccer and was known as good goalie. He loved economics, politics, philosophy, Latin, French, jazz music and reading books. He loved being with his family and friends which we still have to this day. He attended School of Business Julien Craan, the University of Haiti- Institutes des Hautes Etudes Commercial et Economiques, and St. John’s University - Graduate School of Economics. Because of the political nature of Haiti, Harry emigrated to the United States in 1969. He first lived in Puerto Rico, then Chicago before settling in Brooklyn. That is where he met and married Marie Charles in 1973. Harry started working at Montefiore Hospital in 1969 as an accountant and moved to Queens Village, NY. They gave birth to their first child Steve in 1975 and their second child, Devaki in 1978. They lived there until the 1980s and ultimately settled in Valley Stream, NY. He spent his later years running a small business and personal tax preparation company. He also settled into being a grandfather. Harry is best known for his intellect, his wit, and his sage advice. In addition to being a father, husband, grandfather, and uncle, he was a devoted friend and mentor. He was the one person people came to for advice. He was the first person to drop what he was doing to help someone out, give counsel, or discuss the latest in Haitian politics. Even though he studied economics and did accounting, he was never motivated by money. As a land owner in Haiti, he was known to never collect rent and sponsored several students to obtain their law degrees. He wanted people to just be happy and live their life. He was a just, fair, and good human who enjoyed the company of people, a good laugh, and made everyone feel welcome in his home and life. He lived on a foundation of pride, dignity, and honor. He is survived by his close family and friends and his legacy will live on in his stories, his laughter, and the impact he had on everyone who loved him. We all love and miss him dearly. “Please wear a mask at the families request”
